Mylar have dropped an exceptional new tune in the form of ‘Hobby Horse’. This track is a unique experience, with that simplistic bossa nova piano groove creating a bed for vibrant, textural synth sounds and a confident, hook-filled lead vocal. “A hobby horse is both a child’s toy and a personal obsession, so it's quite a good description of the faintly ridiculous process of writing music,” the band explains. “Making songs is mostly squeaking around without getting anywhere. With this song we were thinking of that image and how doing the thing you love can easily become a vice unless you maintain a healthy attitude to it.” The London-based art pop band have taken their writing to a new level with their upcoming second EP, Human Statues, which is out on March 30th, 2023. -Dan Peeke
